TRUCKEE, Calif. — The U.S. Forest Service is planning prescribed burns behind Ponderosa Palisades and Sierra Meadows neighborhoods this fall, which may mean smoke for neighbors. The Sawtooth Ridge burn, one of five prescribed projects planned this fall by Tahoe National Forest Truckee Ranger Station, will merit extra consideration for smoke because of its proximity to residents, said Linda Ferguson of the forest service.
