The newspaper from which the article is referenced has long been known as the Dallas Morning Snooze.

Similarly, a still-extent news magazine is better known by its alternative, more accurately descriptive name: Useless News & World Distort.

And Vince, that lunch at the Ahwanee was for more than one person and included a bottle of champagne.

The Goat and I had lunch at the Buck Meadows Restaurant and it came to $50 with tax and tip for two.

$100 for a high-falutin lunch is reasonable.

The definition of "reasonable" is going to have to be re-defined. Unless you're into redistribution of wealth, then that is reasonable. I guess.

I would guess reasonable is when the seller is happy with the price he is getting and the buyer is happy with the price he is paying. It doesn't matter what the product is.

Yes, I agree. I'd never spend $100 for lunch. Fortunately there are other options in the Valley, so you don't have to.

Those two appellations go back at least to the 1970s.
(The Useless News one probably goes back to the first issue.)

The Ahwahnee Sunday Brunch used to be quite extraordinary. Anyone been recently? What does it cost these days?

Well, I remember entrance to Disneyland used to be $25 not that long ago. I'd prefer a picnic lunch with Port Of Subs sandwich, a beer and a nice, outdoor view below Half Dome.
