It was BBC, before BC. I planted the Grizzly Giant in Mariposa Grove. It was such a little thing. All spindly and such. Never thought it would amount to anything.

Wapama Falls/Beehive trail junction to Wapama Falls.

I've been told it isn't large. But it will take a lot of work to clear the trail.

Most of the rock falls along that trail have been small but the process of clearing them can be nasty due to the cliffs above and below the fall area. No easy way to insure a reasonable stability at the fall site.

The fall at Wapama Falls caused by the storm in January 1997 brought down some huge rock to the bridges. It took a couple of years to get the trail repaired but you could still hike through and past the fall.

We did the HH switchbacks a couple of times this year, and it is amazing to see debris that have accumulated on the trail from the day before -- there is a lot of rockfall activity.

Hmm... I thought people'd get a kick outta the Ahwiyah pict.

Remember that old quote: "better to remain quiet and thought to be ignorant, than say something and remove all doubt" (good one for the quotes thread)

In my case, half the time I THINK I MAY recongnize what is pictured, but the other 3/4, I have no clue, so there is no need to further my cause to prove how ignorant I am by posting stupid comments.....perhaps others may feel similarly?

One other interesting thing I just realized.
You see alot of shots of Mirror Lake with "Mt. Watkins" in the background. Well it actually turns out that
all of those pictures are just not right. You cannot see Mt. Watkins from Mirror Lake. What you see
is a rock face nearly 2000 ft. below Mt. Watkins. Some people will probably find this interesting...
others probably just think I'm nuts. Not sure what the majority is.

As I re-read this thread, it should be made clear that the Hetch Hetchy rockfall is not the same as the Mirror Lake trail Ahwiyah rockfall.
