i'm trying to find a website of facts... i know how high El Capitan is, but i haven't been able to see how wide it is. anyone have a site that is that informative?

I think it may be somewhat hard to figure out how wide it is since someone would have to define where El Capitan ends. I think one can reasonably figure out that a certain vertical point is El Cap though.

There is some controversy over what the widest stone arch in the world is, and has to do with definitions of what the ends are.

i don't remember where i heard it, but it was my understanding, that it was approx. one mile wide. would that come close?

Just drawing on topo I'd go with 1 mile, yes.

btw... dunno how many times I've been in they valley but the things amazes me EVERY TIME I go.
