Don Neubacher begins his work next month as the new boss of Yosemite National Park, but his agenda will be the same as that of his four predecessors -- to finish cleaning up after the massive flood of 1997. A decade-long lawsuit has kept the cleanup on the front burner for 13 years in the iconic national park.

'cleaning up' ?

That's certainly NOT what I'd call it.

Maintenance catch-up, and redevelopment is more accurate. The flood gave them an excuse ( and money ) to do all these other things.

'cleaning up' implies response to damage caused by the flood. The last thing that qualifies, is the repair of the road along the river between Pohono bridge and the old diversion dam site they did last summer. Everything else was done years ago.
