I especially like what she says at the end of the video.

This was Vernal on March 11, 2010:

The Mist Trail was open?

Uh. uh. uh. No. But it was only covered in ice.

I hiked it once when it was supposed to be closed. Wondered for a while why my boots weren't holding as well as they had in the past. Then I put my hand on a rock and found out everything was coated with clear ice. Don't know why the gate was open at the bottom; the gate at the top was closed. Glad I did it though.

Last Wed it was also covered in ice and 6 inches of snow. GW wanted to go up it.
Turns out she put one of her spikeys on upside down. She goes at the top
"one of mine is completely worn down". Ooopsie.
By Saturday the trail had no snow and no ice on it. Saved us having to hike up
to Clark Pt. and down. To be honest in some cases the JMT is more dangerous
than the Mist at times IMO. The switchbacks get choked with snow.
Going down the Mist is easier from Vernal down than it is from Nevada down.
The steps down Vernal are more pronounced.
Once summer rolls around Mist is choked with people so I'd go down the JMT then though.

Ice ≡ good.
Lava ≡ bad.

I guess I should mention I'm talking about with a backpack on.
