Any idea if you will be allowed to park overnight Sat. night?

I know last year when they first opened the road you couldn't.

Haven't heard anything about that yet.

Here's the first news article to pop up about the opening: http://www.fresnobee.com/2010/06/03/1956429/national-park-entry-is-free-this.html

I like the quote:
"Hiking opportunities are extremely limited..."

By the way:
Last year, rd. opened on May 5th. You could not park overnight on
the weekends until May 23rd.

So... no way they're gonna let you this year IMO. Gonna be a whole lotta
peeps scrambling their plans.

Thanks for the update. I am taking the wife camping next week, i really wanted to take her to Bodie for the first time. I was wondering if they would open up the road in time. I was hoping to take her on some of my favorite day hikes off tioga road, but did not plan on this much snow this year.

I hope everyone reads this thread before heading out.

When I was leaving work this afternoon Tioga was still closed and NOT going to open Saturday morning.

A culvert was clogged with ice causing the water to back up, forming a lake, and washing over the road. They have to clear the ice then check to make sure the road bed is still intact.

Call or ask at the entrance station BEFORE you head out there.
