avatar Hiking Half Dome on June 12th

I am not sure about my exact plan for June 12th. I am still trying to choose between Diving Board, Half Dome and Cloud Rest.

Do I need high cut hiking boots or low cut hikers would suffice for this hike?
Specifically I am concerned about prickly plants while hiking Diving Board. Do I need high cut hiking boots to protect from thorns?

If you prefer -- and already own -- low cut hiking boots, you could purchase a pair of those low-cut scree gaiters (about the same ht as hi-top boots) to protect against any brush.

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

Did you end up choosing Clouds Rest? Not only are the views better, but you can also enjoy more solitude.

New here.
Hope you ended up doing Clouds Rest. Want to take my son there next week so I am curious as to snow/creek conditions. I hiked it a couple of years ago in September. No snow worries then.

Ouch! That answers my question. I guess we'll do Glacier Point or North Dome then. Haven't hiked those yet.
Thanks.

No, I just hiked the Half Dome.
I could not have missed an opportunity to hike Half Dome without a permit (which will be required starting from Wednesday).
The trail was bone dry absolutely without snow (except for occasional puddles of water near the backpackaer's campground).
