Trail conditions to Ottoway Lake and Red Peak Pass?
June 13, 2010 07:50PM
I started this topic asking two questions. Always a problem - as many answers come for the first question and the second gets lost. So I will repeat the second one in the hopes that some info is available out there.

Does any one know the trail conditions to Ottoway Lake and Red Peak Pass. I can imagine any fords of the river will be quite interesting this time of year with amount of melting going on. Are there bridges in place on some crossings?

Take a ride to Glacier Point and take a look at the Clark Range.
You can see Red Peak from there. Not the Pass... but...
You'll get an idea...
Then take a look at Buena Vista Crest.

See all that snow?

My guess right now is that Lower Ottoway is still frozen over
and if you want to get over Red Peak Pass you best have crampons
and an ice ax and a lot of desire.
Search this forum.. I posted a pix from the Peak from mid July last year.

Pretty sure someone asked about the trail and I said I wouldn't
expect it to be free of snow until August. It's just that crazy a snow year.

If you do go explore post something please.
