Day hike cathedral Lakes or backpack Glen Aulin

I have a trip coming up in Mid July and I am torn on what i should do. I normally tend to hit all of the hiking and backpacking south of Tioga Pass Rd. (I need to hike elsewhere other then Vogelsang every year) My original plan was to day hike to cathedral lakes (Never been there yet), and hit a few other spots i have never been. I also have been invited on a backpacking trip for two nights to Glen Aulin. What is more enjoyable with better sights. Thanks for any input i am torn between the two.

Do Glen Aulin. Especially with two nights. You'll be able to leave your heavy packs and day hike down to Waterwheel falls and other sights.

I agree. Save Cathedral Lakes for a day trip sometime if your opportunities are limited.
