Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne

Great point-to-point adventure run of the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne from the Tuolumne Meadows to White Wolf. Quintessential Sierra with ubiquitous granite and water. Trail is in good condition with the one boggy area drying up and you can keep your feet dry throughout. We saw a park service trail crew as well. Bugs were not a problem below Tuolumne Meadows.

Wow, what time did you start? How long did it take you guys to run/hike the whole thing?
What did you guys carry, water filter included?

Thanks!

We started at 8 am and finished at 4:40 pm, so 8 hours, 40 minutes for the whole thing including nearly two hours of photography and video stops.

We carried aquamira for filtration and used it, but I would not hesitate to drink Tuolumne River water if I needed to. After all, Hetch Hetchy produces some the purest drinking water anywhere.

Two of us used the Ultimate Direction Wasp pack which in my opinion is the best hydration pack for longer outings. It's lightweight, comfortable, and has a front vest for easy access to essentials, camera, etc.

How was the climb up out of the Canyon to White Wolf?

Grueling! It was steep, hot, and tiring after the preceding miles. Fortunately, the steepest part of the climb is shaded, and the second half is a more gradual ascent.

The park crew had cleared the trail of all blowdowns and there were several fresh cuts visible, thank you!
