Slope Fire Burned Three Additional Acres Overnight

The Harden Lake area and the trail to Pate Valley from Harden Lake have been reopened. The Harden Lake area was previously closed due to fire activity. Hikers are urged to stay on trails when in the Harden Lake area.

The fire, known as the Slope Fire, was caused by lightning and spotted on July 25th. Total acreage gained overnight was three acres, making the total acres burned 600 acres. Yosemite National Park Fire Crews will continue to monitor the fire for ecological benefits.

Cooperating agencies in the managed fire include the San Francisco Water Quality and Public Utilities Commission at Hetch Hetchy and the Tuolumne County Air Pollution Control District.
