...Large temperature changes over the next seven days...

A strong upper-level high pressure ridge will move over california
Beginning today. This will bring strong warming to the region...With
High temperatures as much as 10 to 15 degrees above normal by
Wednesday. Although heat indexes in the hottest central and southern
San joaquin valley locations will be at or above 105 degrees for a
Few hours during the hottest part of the day...The airmass will be
Dry and heat indices will fall into the mid 60s to mid 70s by
Daybreak.

The ridge will begin to weaken thursday and friday as an unseasonably
Strong trough of low pressure approaches the coast. The trough will
Move into california over the weekend...Dropping temperatures well
Below normal. Temperatures could fall as much as 20 to 30 degrees
From wednesday to next sunday in the central and southern san joaquin
Valley.

...Dramatic temperature changes over the next several days...

Very hot weather will impact all of central interior california
Through thursday...As a strong upper-level high pressure ridge
Builds across the southwestern united states. High temperatures will
Be as much as 15 degrees above normal on wednesday with the hottest
Valley spots easily hitting the 110 degree mark. On thursday
Temperatures will be only a few degrees cooler. Even
So...Temperatures will cool off respectably tonight and wednesday
Night with most readings well under 80 degrees in the valley.

Mountain foothill locations will also see hot temperatures that are
Well above normal and just as hot as the nearby valley.

The combination of heat and humidity in the hottest locations will
Produce heat index readings around 105 degrees for a few hours
Wednesday afternoon. People with outdoor plans over the next few
Days should take precautions due to the heat. Drink plenty of
Fluids. Stay out of the sun during the hottest times of the day...Or
Remain indoors with air-conditioning if possible. Avoid alcohol and
Caffeinated beverages such as coffee...Soda and tea. Use wet cloths
Or blue cooler packs on the face...Wrists or neck for a quick
Cool-down. Remember your pets...They need plenty of fresh drinking
Water and shade to be protected from high heat.

By friday temperatures will plummet as a much cooler airmass
Develops over the region. High temperatures by the weekend will be
As much as 15-20 degrees below normal. In addition...Gusty winds
Will be possible on friday as the cooler air builds across the
Region.
