Visited Edna Sat. on my "lake quest".

One of the coolest islands in The Sierra I have seen. Crystal clear blue water ... very deep lake with
small cliffs around it.. and an island that looks like a whale breaching...



On the way down I dislodged a 1.5 ft. diameter boulder that skittered down about 100 ft. When I got to the
outlet (upper right on pict above)... there was a guy fishing.. he goes "did you hear the rock fall about an hour ago?"
I said.. "uh... yeah... that was a ONE rock fall... and it was my doing... just glad it didn't fall on me.. "
The guy is actually in that picture above... no way can you see him though.

The lake itself is over 1/2 mile long by about .2 miles wide at widest spot.

The underwater shape of that island would be quite an attraction out of water. Almost looks larger on top than underneath the water. Maybe it is.

By the way, were you trying to bag local peaks?

Here's another pict from Sat. from what I was told is
"Horse Thief Canyon".

Picture probably doesn't due it justice... Triple Divide in that back there...
