Tioga could possibly open if the snow melts. Don't count on it though.

Not sure about that. With the snow today, and tomorrow, I doubt it will reopen until spring.

Four inches is not enough to close it this early.

I know. They plowed and opened today. Saturday is my last day for the season, so I won't be going up there until next spring. I'll miss that drive twice a week, but not the slow motor homes - and motorcycles - that refuse to pull over. I can't understand why they insist on doing 25 in a 45. I've done almost 12,000 miles in the park since April. I love the driving but the traffic.......

What you do from April until June? I'm assuming you work the kiosk. I think that is what you mentioned before.

You better get up DL Dome.... Chick-on is planning a route up there regardless of road status "soon"...

"but the traffic... " (thus my comment about 'best drive ever out from TM' wink )

I work on my little ranch and make sure my couch doesn't move. I might get permanent in December.

I'm having an extremely minor operation Wednesday. A few days after that and I'll be up for a hike to my dome. If the road is closed, I might be able to bum a key for the day.

It must be nice when it's closed.

Quite possibly the best drive out from TM ever.
(would have been nice though if Olmsted wasted socked in though)
Minor hiccup at the end:

Looks like they got a new sign to really advise Oct. 15 parking deadline date:

Was it simply closed, or did you have to find someone to unlock it for you?

It was locked up. There is a ranger cabin by the Tuolumne Grove parking lot.
She strolled up to it and found a ranger to come open it for us.
The other cars in that pix are parked at the Yosemite Institute btw... which you are
not allowed to park at unless you are a member or something like that.

Bummer. I stayed at porcupine flat sat. night after getting chased out of mammoth (attempting Banner again). Hoped to get clear skies on Sun. for a dayhike of Unicorn. Couldn't see farther than the nearest tree as it turned out. Did finish reading Kurt Vonnegut's "Cats Cradle" in an empty Olmstead Point parking lot though. Weird. Didn't seem bad enough to close though. Hope it's not permanent. I'm taking another shot at Banner, and don't want to drive all the way to Reno to get to Mammoth.

Looks like the weather is clearing out now. They'll all probably be open again by the weekend.

Devils Postpile just posted on their facebook page that the monument and Reds Meadow will be open for the holiday weekend. After that ???
