The Vernal Fall water system and comfort station will close for the season on Monday, October 25. Potable water will no longer be available on the trail beyond Happy Isles. The composting toilets at Emerald Pool, Nevada Fall, and Little Yosemite Valley remain open all year.

From what I've read it appears to come from the Merced near Vernal Fall. The system is shut off in the winter because the pipes would freeze.

I believe it is chlorinated.
