...STRONG PACIFIC STORM TO AFFECT THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR
SUNDAY AND MONDAY...

A STRONG PACIFIC STORM WILL REACH THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR
LATE TONIGHT...AND REMAIN OVER THE REGION THROUGH MONDAY. THIS
STORM WILL TAP INTO TROPICAL MOISTURE...RESULTING IN LOCALLY HEAVY
RAIN AND SNOW...AND VERY HIGH SNOW LEVELS IN THE SOUTHERN SIERRA
NEVADA.

IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY...TOTAL RAINFALL
COULD BE AROUND AN INCH FROM FRESNO COUNTY NORTH...TAPERING OFF
TO A QUARTER INCH IN THE FAR SOUTH END OF THE VALLEY.

IN THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA...RAINFALL AMOUNTS COULD BE AS HIGH
AS 4 INCHES NEAR YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK...TAPERING OFF TO THE
SOUTH. AND INCH OF RAIN COULD FALL AS FAR SOUTH AS SEQUOIA NATIONAL
PARK AND THE PIUTES. FURTHER SOUTH...UP TO A HALF INCH OF RAIN
COULD FALL IN THE TEHACHAPI MOUNTAINS.

THE SNOW LEVEL WILL BE ABOVE 9000 FEET...WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW
NEAR THE CREST. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS COULD BE AS HIGH AS 2 FEET
IMMEDIATELY NEAR THE CREST IN YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK...TAPERING
OFF TO THE SOUTH.

IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY RAIN...THE STORM ALSO WILL BRING GUSTY
WINDS TO THE REGION. WINDS COULD GUST TO 45 MPH OVER THE WEST SIDE
OF THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING...AND OVER
THE SIERRA FOOTHILLS SUNDAY EVENING. OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF
THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA...WINDS COULD GUST AS HIGH AS 90 MPH. A
HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE HIGH ELEVATIONS OF THE
SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT.

IN THE KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS...THE STRONGEST WINDS
WILL OCCUR LATE SUNDAY INTO MONDAY AS THE COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH.
GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 50 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH AND BELOW THE
PASSES OF THE KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS...AND WIND ADVISORIES OR HIGH
WIND WARNINGS MAY BE NEEDED FOR THESE AREAS.

Could very well be. Forecast shows another one coming in beginning Thursday and lasting through the weekend. Looks like it may be more snow than rain.

At Tahoe we're getting a lot of wind and heavy rain now. Reno and Sacramento radars are both lit up like a Christmas tree.

...Wet weather today and tonight...

This hazardous weather outlook is for all of interior central
California.

.Day one...Today and tonight
High wind warning for the southern sierra above 8000 feet.

A strong pacific storm system will bring rain to much of the
Region...Beginning in the north this morning...And spreading
South and east during the day. The rain will gradually taper off
From north to south tonight...With just a few lingering showers
Over the mountains monday.

Because of the tropical origin of the moisture that will be
Arriving...Rainfall totals in the southern sierra could top 4
Inches in and near yosemite park...Up to one inch in kings canyon
And sequoia parks. Lesser amounts are slated farther south into
Kern county. In the san joaquin valley...An inch or so is possible
From fresno north...And a quarter to half inch for the south
Valley and tehachapi mountains. The high deserts of kern county
Are expected to remain dry with this system.

The snow level will rise to ten thousand feet or higher and any
Significant snow will be confined to the immediate crest or
Highest peaks.

Because of the potential of heavy rain over the foothills...Some
Small stream flooding may be possible. Keep abreast of the latest
Forecasts and possible advisories.

Gusty winds are also likely through and below the kern county
Mountain passes on monday. Northwest winds 25 to 35 with gusts to
45 mph are possible.
