From October 4, 2010 through November 7, 2010, the Lake Mary Road (3S10) will be temporarily closed to all access from the northern intersection with the Twin Lakes Loop Road (4S22) to the southern intersection with Twin Lakes Loop Road. Access to the Lakes Basin will still be available by either Old Mammoth Road (4S19) or Twin Lakes Loop Road.
This portion of the Lake Mary Road will be closed for the construction of a bike and pedestrian underpass, part of the Lake Mary bike path development project. When completed, the bike path will run from the intersection of Lake Mary Road and Minaret Road to Horseshoe Lake. The bike path project also includes a trail bridge over Mammoth Creek below the Twin Lakes highway bridge, a number of bus shelters, bus pullouts, connector trails, and an overlook. This project is funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
