...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM PST
SUNDAY ABOVE 7000 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY ABOVE 7000 FEET FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM
TO 10 PM PST SUNDAY.

* TIMING: SNOW AND RAIN WILL REACH THE SIERRA BY LATE SUNDAY
MORNING...THEN SPREAD ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE LAKE TAHOE
BASIN SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 5 TO 10 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET...WITH
LOCALLY UP TO 18 INCHES POSSIBLE ABOVE 8000 FEET. FOR AREAS
BELOW 7000 FEET...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW EARLY SUNDAY EVENING
WITH SNOW ACCUMULATIONS UP TO 4 INCHES.

* SNOW LEVELS: 8000 FEET SUNDAY MORNING LOWERING TO 7000 FEET
DURING THE AFTERNOON...THEN LOWERING TO LAKE LEVEL EARLY SUNDAY
EVENING.

* IMPACTS: CHAIN CONTROLS LIKELY ON MOST MAJOR MOUNTAIN PASSES
SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING INCLUDING DONNER...ECHO AND SPOONER
SUMMITS...THE MOUNT ROSE HIGHWAY...CARSON PASS AND DAGGETT PASS.
MONITOR PASS AND EBBETTS PASS MAY BE SUBJECT TO CLOSURE BY
SUNDAY EVENING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO POSE AN INCONVENIENCE TO TRAVELERS. ROADS
WILL BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS...WITH SNOW AND ICE FIRST
DEVELOPING ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. MOTORISTS SHOULD SLOW DOWN
AND USE CAUTION. CHECK OUR WEBSITE AT WEATHER.GOV/RENO OR LISTEN
TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION.
