Is the tower in these pics 'Kat Pinnacle'?

Just wondering, but I can't seem to find any pics of the tower (besides these) on the web; only climbing route descriptions. If it isn't KP, does anyone know what it is?

Yes, The Rostrum in your photo is on the south side of the Merced River, at the broad outcrop and roadside gawking area a half mile west of the Wawona Tunnel.

I haven't climbed at Kat Pinnacle, but the new (1971) Roper Climbing Guide places it a short distance up the road from the Arch Rock entrance station, on the north (route 140) side of the river. He places it about 500 feet above the highway, about a mile and a half downstream of the Cascade Creek bridge. This would put it on the cliffs below Foresta.

According to Roper, Chouinard invented the rurp piton in 1960, specifically for a route on Kat Pinnacle.

If you don't know what a rurp piton is, whippersnapper, ask the oldest climber that you can find....

You can use the crop tool in a photo editing program to make any shape you want.

Because my cameras can do 4:3, 3:2, 1;1, 16:9, you name it. Only a button push away. No cropping needed whatsoever.

Almost any good digital one can do that nowadays.

Technically it is cropping, but doing it in camera, rather that in post processing.
