Not as bad as the old dude butt I saw at a hot spring near Mammoth last year.

Chick-on,

First you show him dead. Then you show him risen. It's not even Easter yet.

He's not dead... just (a Giant Norwegian Blue) pining for the fjords:

[Hopefully he got included in the annual bird count.]

Where were those shots taken?
How do you get there?

I think it's from one of the overlooks from the southwesterly end of Hetch Hetchy. Going to guess too that it's off trail and he has gps tracks to post.

Mt Condon which is due north of the dam at Hetch Hetchy.

Lookie that... he remembered.

Qumqats,
It's Condon. There are a myriad of ways to get up there. If you want a map of the ways gone up there
with comments... can do that. In a nutshell ... pretty much up the switchbacks to Beehive, turn left on
Eleanor Rd. ... follow Eleanor rd. a bit.... then head S. to Condon. You can do some scrambling
to get up there... or go further west and around..
Lemme know u want the map.

There's a BM up on Condon. Also at Poopenaut. The second one is a fairly simple 1/4 mile up to the Poopenaut BM.
Pretty much the same view as Lookout Pt. but much simpler and closer. (Lookout Pt. is about 1.5 mile).
Great views from both those locations... can see all the way and make out Tower Peak in the distance.

Presume don't want a map since no reply.

If you desire to see the entire dam from up der. You need to hike down S from
Condon a good 1/2 mile and about 400 ft. down.

Or you can just look at the pict. I took:

(different trip)

Yes, I'd like more info. ADVthaAnksNCE

The topo map I'm looking at ( yes, paper map!, I wish topozone was still around ) doesn't go that far. So that's Le Conte Point on the left, and Smith Peak on the right, scratch that, some browsing on mapquest makes me think its Hetch Hetchy Dome and Kolana Rock? And we're looking SE?

No prob.

You may want to look at:
http://www.mytopo.com
or
http://www.mappingsupport.com/p/gmap4.html

The later is powerful... but I haven't looked into it much myself b/c I already
have Topo! on my computer and use that...

Here's a map from that:

Comments:
A - was another trip with old dude checking out some old works w/r to the building of the dam
B - simplest way up w/ almost zero scrambling
C - quickest way up/down but requires some scrambling
D - not recommended unless there's snow holding the shrub at bay
E - that's where the dam pict was taken
X - that's where the Old Dude on Rock picts were taken

Have fun

btw. The trail to Miguel can get quite "soupy" so that may affect the route you take:
