My friends told me Mirror lake is mostly dried up. Will the big winter help?

It's not so much dried up as filled up with sediment.

The normal natural process is for a shallow valley lake like Mirror lake to fill up with sediment and turn into a meadow.

The sediment used to be dredged out every summer to prevent the lake from filling in, and to be used in construction projects. This isn't being done now that the natural process is more appreciated. What used to be the 'Lake' is slowly filling and turning into a meadow. There's some places where the water stays year round, and during the spring floods the whole area goes under water, but by end of summer it's not much of a lake. sad smiley

It sorta makes me a little sad everytime I see Mirror lake without much water. I guess I just need to accept the natural change.

Just visit it during the spring (April, May, and early June) and it's still pretty much a lake.

Just think of it as a seasonal lake now.

I like that idea, a seasonal lake.

I have always wondered why the lake is dry... it all makes sense now.

I have always been disappointed when I see the dry Mirror Lake late summer, and always thought it was global warming or something. This makes more sense.

Thanks for the education! I think I understand now.
