Looking at the expected open dates for the various campgrounds, it doesn't look like TM will be open for the July 1-4 weekend. The website says "July 15??"

The other campgrounds along Tioga say "July??"

Is this even worth thinking about?

I would be very surprised if any of the campgrounds off of Tioga Road in Yosemite are open by July 4th. But with the recent heat wave, there still might be a chance. But I wouldn't count on it.

Still, keep your fingers cross. You never know.

Yeah, if any camping happens that weekend, it's likely to be on the coast somewhere. But, now that I'm working full+ time, I might enjoy just a long weekend of nothing. smiling smiley

Why not camp on the east side?

That's a thought. If we go at all, I want it to be as easy as possible. What would you suggest on the east side that might be good to look at?

What, if anything, have you explored on the Eastside?
The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Reserve, Devil's Postpile, Mono Lake (esp. the tufa reserve), and Manzanar are the tip of the iceberg.
