I was planning on doing a day hike off Tioga road on July 1st, and the Cathedral lakes sound like a scenic destination. Anyone know if they'll be thawed out by then?

No way.

I presume you looked at this:

A small portion of each lake is unfrozen... (i.e. the outlet).

Upper had a very very thick laya on it still. I could show some more photos of the lakes if you like...

I find the a frozen lakes to still be very pretty.
Although the boat doesn't work very well in them...

I like them better when partially frozen. That way they don't just look like more snow.

I did see your earlier post and was hoping the hot weather we've been getting lately would be enough to thaw them out, but I guess it takes awhile to melt the whole enchilada. I'll probably check em out anyways. Thanks for the reply.
