Trailhead Recommendations Tioga/Tuolumne
June 28, 2011 08:35AM
Hello,

My friend and I were planning on taking the Dog lake trailhead to Young Lakes but the ranger said the trail is completely under snow. We're still hoping to go up this weekend but aren't sure if there are any trails in the Tioga or Tuolumne area that are do-able. Any suggestions where we could hike where the trail would be easy to spot/follow? We're both okay with a map and compass but are far more comfortable on trails (or at least having markers).

Thanks in advance. ^_^

The only trails that won't be under snow near Tuolumne Meadows will be Lyell and Glen Aulin.
The rangers may tell you you can't get across Dingley and Delaney (been told this in the past)
and prolly tell you Lyell is flooded up the wazoo.

Trails w/o HUGE quantities of snow would be all the ones that head south that are west of Olmsted Pt.
(but not Olmsted Pt. trail to Watkins!)
Even though they may not be snow covered.. you need to be aware of any creek crossings.

Chick-on is looking at you!
