Just back from a 3 day trip in Tuolumne Meadows. It's official...spring is here! (Better late than never)

We had wonderful weather. Not a cloud in the sky. The water levels are down but still very awe inspiring. Wildflowers abound everywhere. The mosquitos are out in full force, so be prepared. (or suffer)

The Tuolumne river as it tumbles past Glen Aulin and down through the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne is spectacular and the sunset from the High Sierra camp is second to none.

Thank you Yosemite....see you in 3 weeks for my next adventure!

Jayabrams - sounds beautiful!

Did you make it to Poly Dome Lakes or May Lake? Curious how much the conditions have changed since I was on the trail two weeks ago.

Hi Katy,

The scout troop that I was leading voted to stay a second night at Glen Aulin and do the day hike down to Waterwheel instead of going to May Lake. It was a good decision. The GC of the Tuolumne was in perfect form!

Rangers we met while hiking in said the trail was still snow covered in stretches past Murphy Creek and that the May Lake was still partially frozen.

Hi JayAbrams-
I was supposed to go from TM to Vogelsang with my 2 teenagers next week but just told it will be closed. Now planning on TM to Glen Aulin and camping there for 1-2 nights. Wondered what the creek crossing are like, kids will not have change of boots and don't want anything dangerous or wet. As a scout leader, I thought you could give a realistic picture of what to expect. Also for packing, how cold is it at night and what clothes should we pack for nighttime clothes--- sleeping and hanging around the tent? Just getting the kids into backpacking and love the Glen Aulin area so trying to make sure it is comfortable (dry, safe) and enjoyable so we can return each year. Thanks a lot for any advice you might have.
