Re: Parking overnight on Glacier Point road

A friend has asked me where he might park along the Glacier Point road, and unfortunately, I don't know.

Is there trailhead parking for the Panorama Trail near Glacier Point, or is it ok to park overnight anywhere at Glacier Point?

The Yosemite website showing trails is blank for parking at Glacier Point.

Is there trailhead parking for Ostrander Lake?

if you're overnight parking at GP you go to the far end where there are bear boxes and a bathroom

I think that all the trail heads have an area for overnight parking.
This would include the trail head for Ostrander.
whoops! just googled and found this page Trailhead Information Maybe they don't all have parking.
If there's a bathroom there's going to be parking.

Much like Tioga Road.... if you can get your car off the pavement.... and it doesn't say "No Overnight Parking"...
then you can park your car overnight there... until October 15th.

In direct answer to your questions:
You can park anywhere at Glacier Pt. (ok, maybe not anywhere... perhaps put your car into one of those slots)
Yes there is trailhead parking at Ostrander TH
(and at McGurk, and at Taft Pt., and at Mono Mdw., and ... and ...)

LOL - my, were people a bit reckless and daring back then. I'd love to know the model of that car and which year the photo was taken.

I had the same questions a few weeks back, and this is the information I found...

The photo was made circa September 1916, and it's a Studebaker Six, owned and driven by Arthur Pillsbury.
