HQ documentary re: Yosemite (Cathedral Range) off-trail hiking

This is not my video and I don't know these folks. I stumbled across it while bushwhacking through internet forumswinking smiley

Anyway, I loved it and figured I'd share:

He does a show called Motion which airs on channel 7.2 in the Bay Area. Pretty decent while somewhat pedestrian; he keeps his audience on the beaten paths and that's fine with me.

He says on the Vimeo page "this is a new show that I am working on independently." Perhaps this is the pilot for that project.

If someone watches all the way through, maybe they could provide a synopsis or location list. Hope he doesn't give too much away!

Took a look. It's a very typical route taken a somewhat atypical way.
Nelson TH (Elizabeth) over to Matthes Lake over to Echo Lake (via outlet of Matthes I presume since
nothing of Matthes Crest from top is shown)... to Upper Cathedral and out...

Rather than taking the obvious saddle between Echo Creek and Matthes Lake (directly East of Lake)...
they went up on the ridge and found a slot to go thru. Kinda cool.

They didn't go very far on any of their 4 days... but I guess when your pissing with a video camera
so much it takes forever...

I agree Bill--although it's a bit amusing hearing them talk about how remote that area is....when there are lots of footprints ahead of them in the snow....and at one point as they begin to climb out of Echo Canyon you can clearly see the use trail below them...they are, after all, on a few miles in, despite the dramatic narration.

I guess that's all part of the TV ethic...

But this is SO much better than those idiotic Man vs Wild things on cable....and they really do seem to appreciate how wonderful it all is...instead of just focusing on the adventure of it all.

I'd watch another one, that's for sure!

I think the point was you don't really have to go very far off trail to get away from people in Yosemite. As far as those footprints, I figured they were from themselves, just milling around the area.

Actually I think their point was that Fruit Pies taste so good that you
shouldn't get all worked up about eating one or two a month.
