60 Minutes Sunday re Alex Honnold & free climb of Sentinel

For those interested:

"60 Minutes" cameras capture a feat never documented before: viewers will see Alex Honnold scale a 1,600-ft. rock wall using nothing more than his hands and feet. Cameras strategically placed along a sheer rock wall in Yosemite National Park put viewers right beside Honnold as he makes his free-solo climb of Sentinel, a feat never done before. Lara Logan interviews Honnold about his climbing and the sport he has mastered at the age of 26 in a segment to be broadcast on "60 Minutes," Sunday, Oct. 2 at 7

Apparently, he free soloed The Phoenix which is the first recorded 5.13--not sure what 60 minutes will be focusing on.

I'm watching it now (living on the east coast has a few advantages). 60 minutes focuses on his free solo of Sentinel Dome, as well as profiling him. That guy is crazy. Sooner or later he'll have a misstep.....

Wow, I can't imagine doing something like that where you're either perfect or splattered across the rock a thousand feet below.

He's literally one in 10 billion. I read he free-climbed both Half Dome & El Capitan in 11.5 hours.

Just finished watching it. WOW The back of my legs were twitching the whole time.

The Phoenix is located on the western side of Cascade Falls--west side of Tamarack Creek Bridge, (1.7 miles west of Hwy 120/140 junction). I believe they are the first falls you see after going through the Arch Rock entrance.

I thought it was cascade falls but I didnt really get a good view of it. My hands were sweating whatching that guy climb

I would guess that he has done the route many, many times, so he knows it well enough to do it with his eyes closed almost.
