Showed Z wife the route down to the canyon and thru gorge from above... she had some choice words.
(I guess I won't be taking her thru the canyon)
(o well... there's lots to explore in the park w/o that)
(And I guess I shouldn't tell her about The Enchanted Gorge)



O... there's an article on Tenaya Canyon in the issue of Outside Magazine on the "newstands" now
(I'm not a fan of that magazine... but there it is)

Oh dear... sigh...

(I think YOSAR might get a bump in activity this summer because of this.)

At least the title of the article is "How I nearly Killed My Father". Hoping that would discourage at least some people.

The view of Tenaya Canyon from the western Quarter Dome is looking straight down the inner gorge.
I've got some pictures I'll get online sometime soon.
In the meanwhile here's a video you might find interesting.

i have a dream ....... of spendiing a night atop one of the QD's. anyone here ever done that? some of the pics i've seen posted here look like it could be quite nice. i suppose i'd have to carry some water up there. pretty exposed also. not a good place for a sleepwalker, eh?

Old Dude has been up there once w/me... he just prolly missed your post...

All times been there... there has not been a fire ring atop the domes... please don't make one...
there is a fire ring below in the forest ... use that... if it's still there... and I haven't busted it up...
I love this place... Probably end up there again very soon... ... very soon...
It's fun to hang out and watch the Avs. off the face of Clouds...

Is it any consolation that have never camped atop Half a Dome?

First time Old Dude and I visited Watkins and slept up there... there was a huge
group there... worshiping the full moon... complete with adult beverages and a
rotisserie chicken ... they said they used to always do it atop Half Dome... but
had to change venues due to the change in camping rules.
On a related note... I've yet to see a Mt. Lyell Salamander ... anyone?
