Re: Highway 120 to have Soft Opening at 2:00 pm today (Friday)

Even greater news this morning about the 120 Road closure -- the road repair will be completed early this afternoon and both lanes of traffic on Highway 120 will have a soft opening today (Friday) at 2:00 pm. We were lucky to have beautiful weather over the past few weeks, which allowed the contractor to repair the road faster than anticipated. Thanks to Michael Pieper, the Federal Highways Administration staff, and T.L. Peterson, Inc., for their swift and outstanding work. Thanks to park road crews that will be clearing the overall road for debris this morning. I want to extend special appreciation to all staff involved for expediting this significant repair of a critical road system to Yosemite National Park. Simply put, this was an exceptional effort.

I would guess it just means that they will close it intermittently or have
only one lane open with some sort of traffic control. In udder words... they
opening it for you to get by... but they're not completely done with the
repair and you may experience some delay.

Drove by on Saturday. The road grade and the wall are both fixed but the fixed section of road is not paved. Maybe it will close again for a day or two for paving / final touches.
