Nice! I've never been there in Winter.

We were thinking of hoofing it throught the snow and storm to Cathedral Beach, but no one had gaiters and we were all already really wet.

Now I think we should have.

Hmm... ok, I figured you'd get a kick out of the first one...
On Saturday my feet got wet due to the slush and huge puddles everywhere on
the valley trails. On Sunday when we went up to the base of Ribbon
my feet were dry and toasty the entire day. Up to 2 ft. of snow... but no water puddles...
easily spent an hour up there watching the ice falls... smiling smiley

It snowed really hard at times:

I kind of really liked this one:

the wife said it was just ok...
which leads me to the Renaissance Exhibit... for me... it was not very inspiring... not sure why...
the wife wasn't really impressed either... she said that it's too bad nearly every single thing was valley or just off the road

We stayed at The Lodge last year too... I must say... for the price I'd expect the heater to actually work... but we said
at least the power didn't go out this time.

I hope you enjoy them. Very difficult for me to pick a set...

The Tunnel View shot is there from Monday. Always amazed at the amount of camera equipment there...

I'm so jealous. You can see Tunnel View so many times, but this is like seeing it for the first time again. Happy Anniversary.

Use them as you wish. I have no problem as long as you enjoy them and make as much money as I do off of them.

Yes. I did the trek in early February so I knew what we were getting into.
The climbers trail stays in the woods the entire time and is imho really
straightforward. With up to 2 ft. of snow it didn't make it any more difficult
really and actually made it quite a bit of fun. This was due to the fact
that it was all new snow. I'm certain this can be done pretty much anytime of the
year with a bit of gear selection. By straightforward I mean you just keep on
a going up and up... and eventually you'll run into the wall up there and adjust.
When I went in February I went right up the creek which I highly recommend.
We again got very lucky with the weather in that the sun came out when
we were up there and you could see the entire fall and all. So much so it
was actually almost too hot. We spent quite a bit of time watching the ice
fall,etc. Here's a video ... I should have taken a couple more.

The wife has never been up to Sierra Pt. but I figured that would be
a bit more dicey in the snow so we didn't even go up the JMT/Mist at all
on this trip.

I'd like to go up this when the fall is flowing nicely...

Have fun

Were there any other people tracks on the fresh snow before yours? If not, and you were hiking on virgin snow, I take it by your comments that the use trail was still easy to follow. Correct?

No and uh... sorry... the key comment you didn't quote was:
"By straightforward I mean you just keep on a going up and up... and eventually you'll run into the wall up there and adjust."

I only followed the trail once (in the 2 times been up there)... and it's non-trivial to keep track of ...
even with the zillion ducks/cairns you'll be searching... Add snow and you can probably fo-get-bout-it.

Although it may not look like it... it's pretty open within the forest there. Not a lot of shrub at all really... so the trek really
needs no trail. This is one the wife will go on again ... Indian Canyon is another story. She refuses to go up there ever again.
Mentioned it for the 19th time to her this trip... and she says "go ahead... I'll go in the room and read a book"

Here's another vid you may enjoy... Cascade Fall ... we hiked up there when we first got in the park:

Enjoyed viewing the Cascade Fall video. Love it that your camera was able to capture the snow falling. Very picturesque.
