Happy Dance!

Flew over the sierra this morning on a flight into SJC. Still plenty of snow up there to play in, but it's melting fast.

The Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Center will open tomorrow (Tuesday, May 8) and will act as both the wilderness center and visitor center for this interim time while the road is open but the power and utilities are not up and running. Therefore it will be a primitive operation (no power, water, sewer, phone) and will have limited hours with minimal staffing. It is currently scheduled to be open daily from 9am - 3:30pm.

confirms the Tioga Road is open.

Closed section appears to be midway between Lee Vining and Benton (east of 395).

Tenaya Lake had ice on Monday...it was cool...somewhat like frazil ice. It was slushy and moving, overlapping on itself. (west end)

It had no ice at all yesterday (Saturday).

The trail to North Dome was almost completely snow-free on Sunday. Porcupine Creek required an easy log crossing.
