Yosemite Indian souvenir doll with two small Indians in canoes
Yosemite National Park used to sell many these stereotypical Plains dolls in their stores. This reminds me of the documentary named “In Who’s Honor” about Indian Mascots. There was a major controversy not to far from Yosemite in the town of Galt, California, where local Native American’s protested the image of the high schools a goofy Indian mascot called “Willie the Warrior”, which many times ended up in heated debates.
