We made our day trip to the Medlicott lakes on Friday and especially to what I guess is called Lake of the Domes. Not a cloud in the sky all day.

We take the climbers trail since it's so much shorter. There are a couple of signs posted saying climbing on Medlicott Dome is closed for Peregrine Falcon nesting. I have not seen this before. Is this a yearly restriction?

There are two new tree falls on the trail. One is no issue at all. The second one is in a very inconvenient spot. It fell right across the trail where you exit the forest and begin the walk up the granite slope where there's a tiny creek (dry already).

There are plenty of mosquitos at Lower Cathedral Lake but few once we started up towards Medlicott, about the same as the middle of August last year. Zero mosquitos at the small lakes.

Here are some 3D images. I'm posting them on my own web site because it's easier for me to manage them.

Tuolumne Peak

These images were taken at opposite ends of the portion of Medlicott Dome that runs from the west of Medlicott Lake down to Lake of the Domes.

Tenaya Lake

This image has lots of issues, especially the image pair is too close together for the best 3D effect but Chick-on says he likes the cardboard cutout effect so I posted this one. smiling smiley It looks better about 6 feet from the display.

I had others I tossed because I couldn't get far enough apart for them to work correctly. When taking images of terrain miles away you need image pairs hundreds of feet if not a thousand feet apart.

Awesome! Was looking at my trip thru there last Jan. trying to find something I could 3D...
"NoName" dome is really up there in my list o favorite domes in the park.
Thanks!

The mountain is Tuolumne Peak
(edit: the "peak" is smack dab in the middle of the photo) (not the stuff left or right)
(i.e. just above the cirque)

The climbing closures on Medlicott are new this year.
At least that is my recollection. I remember reading earlier this year
about how they were super excited that the Peregrine decided to
nest there and help in it's recovery.

Now that I have my glasses...these are really cool, thanks! I think Peak 10540 and No Name Dome 1 came out especially nice, in terms of how natural the 3D effect looks.

Can't get enough of these. Cool to look at, but also so useful to figure out routes.
