Yosemite National Park invites the public to participate in Community Emergency Services Day in Yosemite National Park on Thursday, July 26, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Wawona Community Center.

Visitors and community members will have the opportunity to watch presentations and programs about community safety and emergency services in and around the Yosemite area. Events will include presentations about search and rescue operations in Yosemite National Park by Yosemite Search and Rescue (YOSAR) and marijuana cultivation on public lands by Yosemite Park Rangers. Additionally, a CalFire safety trailer will be at the event. A bear trap used by Yosemite Park Rangers will also be on display. The Yosemite Mounted Horse Patrol will also be at the event, alongside the US Forest Service’s mascot, Smokey Bear.

Many other events and presentations will occur throughout the afternoon from agencies from the Yosemite area. The public is encouraged to attend this free event and learn more about emergency services in and around Yosemite National Park.

This free event is put on by Yosemite National Park, DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, Inc., Mariposa Mountain Crisis Center, the Yosemite Medical Clinic, YOSAR, California Fish and Game, Sierra Ambulance, Mariposa County Sheriff’s office, U.S. Forest Service, California Highway Patrol (CHP), CalFire, and Mariposa County Fire.
