“FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News has learned that Yosemite National Park has confirmed a third case of the hantavirus. Officials say this case has resulted in a fatality.

The park also said that there is a probable fourth case. The park is now reaching out to visitors who stayed in the Signature Tent Cabins at Curry Village from mid-June through the end of August.”

Here's a link to the current CNN article about the Hantavirus outbreak at Curry Village. The article notes that in Yosemite there was one case of hantavirus in year 2000 and one in 2010 also:

From a more detailed article in the San Francisco Chronicle:

“These four cases are the first ever to be reported from Yosemite Valley, although the national park has had two cases in past years, both in visitors to the higher-elevation Tuolumne Meadows.

There have been about 60 cases of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome reported in California since the virus was identified in the United States in 1993. About a third of those patients died...”
