I became intimately familiar with Thunderstorms. Here are some photos........you can see more and more of the photos at: http://calicokat.smugmug.com/Hiking/Sierra-Nevada There are Topo Maps of my entire journey to see as well and some videos at a later time.

Wow, what a trip! Thanks for sharing all your photos (including the link to the additional photos). For such a long backpacking trip (19 days) during August in the High Sierra, one must expect to encounter thunderstorms during some parts of the journey. It must have been a pretty awesome adventure!

What a great trip! I am envious. Did you use AA batteries for your camera? Or charge them with solar?

Insert "jealous" emoticon here.

Lovely photos. Tstorms, for photography, can be as much of a blessing as a curse... (we had only the tiniest bit of rain in 28 days on our 2008 JMT hike.sad smiley)

Great stuff, both the photos and the blog. Making me feel guilty for not getting my stuff up sooner (it'll happen soon, at least before Chick-on returns and gives me grief about itChick-on is looking at you!). Must have passed you somewhere...a note in my diary says that at Mather Pass on August 8 we had a crowd that included "another guy going north"...perhaps you?

Yeah, thanks...tongue sticking out smiley
I did see the pictures...and didn't recognize the 'kat, hence the question. I got to know a bunch of folks going south as we saw each other from time to time, but the contact with the northbounders was limited and we may not have even seen each other.
And btw rumor has it that you have the answer on the Half Dome (?) picture posted by Chick-on avec les pieds . True??

I'm not saying.

I might have the answer, but then, I could be wrong. (Wouldn't be the first time.) Grinning Devil

Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate them greatly.

My camera uses a lithium ion battery that performed great. I brought two and kept them charged on my zero day in Bishop and again at Reds Meadow.

I wasn't on Mather Pass on August 8th, but I was on Kearsarge smiling smiley
