...Unsettled weather expected this weekend...

A series of weather disturbances will move across the region
Starting tonight into friday and continuing through the weekend.
Snow levels will be relatively high through the event and snow
Accumulations are expected to be 3 to 7 inches with the first
System through saturday with near 1 foot at the highest elevations
Near yosemite national park. Possibly another 2 to 4 inches of new
Snow will fall...With near 7 inches at the higher elevations...With
The second system later on sunday.

Snow levels will start out around 7500 feet and remain steady
Through saturday before lowering to 6500 feet on sunday as the
System moves out.

Exact timing and snow amounts may change as the storm gets

...Winter storm to affect the central california interior friday
And saturday...

.Tropical moisture ahead of storm system off the coast will bring
Light precipitation tonight and friday. The storm will move
Towards shore friday afternoon bringing the potential for heavier
Precipitation over the southern sierra friday night and saturday.
The storm will be relatively warm with steady snow levels above
7500 feet. However a colder storm system will quickly follow
Saturday night and sunday providing additional snow and lowering
Snow levels.

The national weather service in hanford has issued a winter
Weather advisory above 7500 feet for snow and strong winds...Which
Is in effect from 10 am friday to 4 pm pst saturday for the
Southern sierra nevada from yosemite to kings canyon.


* snow accumulations: 4-8 inches at the lower elevations. Higher
Elevations could accumulate 10-16 inches.

* elevation: steady snow level above 7500 feet. Snow level
Lowering saturday night.

* timing: light precipitation starting tonight through friday.
Precipitation becoming moderate to heavy friday night and
Saturday.

* locations include: toulumne meadows at yosemite national
Park...Sierra national forest...Kings canyon national park.

* winds: south 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

* impacts: winter driving conditions and possible road closures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow...Sleet...Or
Freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
Slippery roads and limited visibilities...And use caution while
Driving.
