I haven't been watching this for years like some but wasn't there a premature winter closure last year that was rescinded that ended up allowing the Tenaya Lake skating? Is it really closed this time?

Well--They've already closed a couple of times this year. But last year it snowed once...and then that snow melted away. And we didn't get any more until late January.

This year we already have enough snow that it would be real work to try and plow the road...and more is on the way.

Yup. I missed skating on Tenaya by a week last winter. It did not close for good until late Jan/early Feb if I recall.

Website says GP Road is closed. There is a gate at Chinquapin. Almost assuredly it is closed.
I know it was last year around Thanksgiving timeframe. I'd expect the same.

From what I know they really don't want a bunch of people going to Badger Pass before it is open.

Thanks Chick-on. I was trying to help a coworker plan a day hike/snow shoe and I wasn't sure about what the website indication of "closed" meant since the road in obviously open at some point to get to the ski area.
