One of the earliest Yosemite area photographers was a man named M. M. Hazeltine. Hazeltine took this photo of two Paiute men with their catch while in Yosemite. This is a very rare photo. The Hazeltine photo is titled "Piute Indians in Yosemite".



Here is a close up of the photo;



In the Yosemite area Paiutes were known to be the best fisherman during this time.



Chief Tenaya was the founder of the Paiute colony of Ahwanhee - Dr. Lafayette H. Bunnell.
