...Winter storm warning in effect from 4 pm friday to 4 am pst
Monday above 5000 feet...

The national weather service in hanford has issued a winter storm
Warning above 5000 feet for heavy snow and strong winds...Which
Is in effect from 4 pm friday to 4 am pst monday for the southern
Sierra nevada from yosemite to kings canyon. The winter storm
Watch is no longer in effect for the southern sierra nevada from
Yosemite to kings canyon.

* snow accumulations: 2 to 4 feet. The heaviest snowfall will
Occur above 7000 feet around yosemite park.

* snow level: will fluctuate between 4000 to 5000 feet over the
Weekend.

* timing: occasional heavy snow will develop friday night and
Continue through saturday night. There will be a short break in
The precipitation sunday morning. Another heavy burst of snow
Will develop sunday afternoon and continue through sunday night.

* locations include: yosemite park...Tuolumne meadows...Shaver
Lake...Huntington lake...Wishon...Kings canyon park...And
Highway 41 north of oakhurst.

* winds: southwest winds with occasional gusts to 75 mph in the
Sierra backcountry and near the crest. Strong winds will cause
Significant blowing and drifting snow.

* impacts: snow covered roads...Treacherous driving conditions.
Chain restrictions and possible road closures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow are
Expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will

It appears to be a bit lower since it is currently snowing in the Valley.

Pacific northwest coast through today. A strong jet moving
Around the base of the low will pick up deep pacific moisture
Bringing periods of moderate to heavy snow to the sierra through
Tonight.

Dangerous winter conditions will impact holiday travel and
Outdoor activities. Across the sierra...Periods of heavy snow and
Strong winds could lead to whiteout conditions and very lengthy
Travel delays. Travelers should strongly consider an alternate
Route to avoid the sierra passes this weekend.

* timing: a final round of moderate to heavy snow will develop

I'ts raining here at bass lake where I live but it is snowing very heavily about 10 - 15 minutes up the road on highway 41 (north of oakhurst)
