If the trail is closed at the gate that I'm thinking of (the first gate one passes coming down from Union Point), then it would be sweet if the Park Service would restore the section of the old Four Mile Trail from near that gate (where it meets up with the new trail) up to Union Point, since that section of the old Four Mile Trail doesn't have the same potential ice hazards that forces the Park Service to close the Four Mile Trail at that point.
To restore that old trail, the Park Service would mainly need to clear all the manzanita and other brush has grown over the old trail near that junction.
Doing so would permit winter visitors to Yosemite to enjoy the spectacular view of the valley from Union Point (plus it would provide easy access to the classic view of Agassiz Column)
