.An area of low pressure will drop into the sierra and western
Nevada christmas afternoon. This will bring additional snow to the
Sierra...With a mix of rain and snow in western nevada through
Wednesday. Travel will once again be hazardous through the sierra
With travel delays and chain restrictions possible.

Pst wednesday...

The national weather service in reno has issued a winter weather
Advisory for snow...Which is in effect from 4 pm tuesday to 4 pm
Pst wednesday.

* timing: light snow will begin tuesday afternoon...Becoming
Moderate to heavy at times tuesday evening through wednesday
Afternoon.

* snow accumulations: 1 to 2 feet along and west of highway 395
With 3 to 8 inches east of highway 395.

* snow levels: 6000 feet tuesday afternoon falling to all valley
Floors by wednesday morning.

* impacts: travel will be impacted with slick and icy conditions.
Lengthy travel delays and chain restrictions are likely along
Highway 395. Be prepared for winter driving conditions.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Snow is expected to pose an inconvenience to travelers. Roads
Will become slick and hazardous...With snow and ice first
Developing on bridges and overpasses. Motorists should slow down
And use caution. Check our website at weather.Gov/reno or listen

Pst wednesday above 5000 feet...

The national weather service in hanford has issued a winter
Weather advisory above 5000 feet for snow and gusty winds...Which
Is in effect from 6 pm tuesday to 4 pm pst wednesday for the
Higher elevations of the southern sierra nevada.

* snow accumulations: 4 to 8 inches above 5000 feet. Isolated
Amounts around 12 inches above 7000 feet.

* snow level: initially above 6000 feet...Lowering to 4000 feet
During the day wednesday.

* timing: periods of snow developing late tuesday near yosemite
Park...Spreading south through sequoia park early wednesday.

* locations include: camp nelson...Giant forest...Johnsondale...
Lodgepole...Shaver lake...Tuolumne meadows...Huntington lake...
Wishon. Two to 4 inches may occur in yosemite valley wednesday.

* winds: west to southwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph over
Higher peaks and along the sierra crest.

* impacts: travel delays or chain requirements.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow will cause
Travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited
Visibilities...And use caution while driving.
