And many thanks to this forum for giving us a lot of ideas of what to
do on our 20th Anniversary. Took the wifie to Sierra Pt. and also to
Hidden Falls... and hiked from Badger Pass to a neat little Valley.
Stayed in accomodations in the valley for a change instead of a
circus tent.

She had her iPhone but 4G service... hmmph... couldn't load webcam
page at Ahwahnee Mdw. Did try the photosynth thing on her phone..
have yet to see the results...

But... here is a photosynth from my camera from Sierra Pt. on Friday:360 Photosynth of Sierra Pt
It was overcast all day... but very bright..
If you use ur noggin u can find some of Hidden too.

Tanks for Sharon

Happy Anniversary! Thanks for the neat photo.

I thought that the park had picked up a lot of snow last week, but I guess it's not so....

I think only about a foot... and it's long gone. Coming down Pohono took the snowshoes off for good
before Hill's. Really wanted to show the wife that spot... but we'd seen so much already and
had quite a bit of a hike back to Valley bus stop.
Wife had never been to Dewey, Crocker, or Stanford before... and we had lunch around Mt. Beautitude/Wherever Pt.
(here: http://yosemitenews.info/forum/read.php?3,64440,64499#msg-64499 )
She had no desire to bust thru the shrub to get to Old Inspiration... so I saved Hill's for her for another time.
smiling smiley (and thanks for that again btw)

B-E-A-utiful! I enjoyed the photosynth. Just curious, how many photos did it take to create it?

I threw 40 photos at it.

Cool. I saw your pink self at one point in the pano and looked to see if you were at any other points in the same pano...looks like you maintained thematic consistency across 40 pictures.

Sounds like you had a nice anniversary (yeah, going for non-circus-tent accommodations for this occasion makes sense).

All I want is to hike somewhere, hideaway and breathe da fresh air,
Maybe I'll see a bear
Wouldn't it be loverly?

Lots of cloud cakes for me to eat, lots of water falling lots of feet.
S.P. has four to see
Ohhhh isn't it lover-ly?

Neat panoramic view from Sierra Point. It really captures the feeling of being on Sierra Point. Thanks for the link.

Don't know if you own a smartphone, but on the latest Android phones running the lastest version of the Android OS "Jelly Bean" (version 4.2 - not 4.1), the built-in camera has now the same functionality of Photosynth (though not quite as good and not quite capable of a complete 720º pano either). Google calls it Photo Sphere.

Here's a short writeup on it: http://goo.gl/a2vq4

So now three of the four major smartphone platforms offer this type 720º panorama capability (with their latest phones):

Windows Phone & Apple iPhone (also Apple's iPad and the latest iPod Touch): Microsoft's Photosynth
Android 4.2: Google's Photo Sphere

(The only smartphone platform that doesn't yet have it is Blackberry)

Thanks. I will look into this. I have a Nexus 7. But don't take it out in the woods.
Wife has one of the iPhoney things. I like how it showed you what u were doing...

I missed some stuff when was doing some junk at 20x Zoom.

Here's a few more:
Clark Range from Dewey

Royal Arch Cascade
(zoom in to the climbers)

Hidden from Below

Hidden from Above

More Dewey View

and just for u ... pw...
Moran from Ahwanhee

I did a bunch more... dunno if I'll have time to play around much more with them.
And some 3D.

Some from Dewey, Crocker, Stanford, Artist... Prob too much really...

It would just be because I take far too many pictures... but I'll see if I can make something up sometime this week...

You're having way too much fun with the Microsoft ICE software.

Love the view of the Clark Range from Dewey point, but I must admit that I was just a tad disappointed that neither of your two panos from Dewey Point didn't include Yosemite Valley. sad smiley

And thank you for the photo of Moran Point. Love the detail when I zoom into the shot. Looking closely at the top of Moran Point, there appears to be a man made of stone staring toward the higher rock that's next to him towards the south.

(Yes, I have a very active imagination.)

Looks like you and your wife had a grand time this past weekend celebrating your 20th wedding anniversary. Congratulations to the both of you! Can't think of a better place to celebrate such an important anniversary.

My darling enjoying Hidden Falls (and thanks for shoving me to this spot)
We had a blast exploring the bottom and top. Searching around.
Sierra Pt. is more dangerous than this trek imo.
Some great views of Snow Creek Falls here too... (maybe I'll upload the vid)

Tanks!

Hidden Falls definitely on the list. Please share your Snow Creek vid. Was it hummin'?

I'm sure you read the section in the "Death" book on the tragedy here.

did you backtrack to the talus to get from top to bottom (or vice versa) or scramle? sometimes there's a fixed rope

We got to the angled rock... thought about climbing up with a rope and throwing it down for her...
didn't feel too comfortable going up there myself... so went back down and around. I figured we
could just go around (and I sort of recalled you saying as much). Fairly simple.
Now gotta go take The Old Dood there. It's just that good.

Here's a few videos for all...

Best viewed in 1080HD Full Screen.

Thanks Ryan

Oh, I did look at these videos on YouTube. They're totally awesome when viewed on full screen mode in 1080HD!
