Re: Half Dome Lottery (how are winners selected)

How does this Half Dome Lottery work? I mean if you look at the 2013 statistics, for say 6/3/2103, and it looks like there are roughly 1500 permit request for that date. So how are the permit winners selected? Do the just pick from every one enter for that date no matter if it's your first, second, third .... seventh choice? And if the do and it's say your seventh choice and say 6/5/2013 was your first choice do you still have a chance for 6/5/2013?

The computer randomly selects an application, then goes through each of the choices on the application in order of preference until it finds an opening or runs out of options. Then, the computer goes to the next application, etc.
