Overnight parking in TM

Hi,

We are doing a mini HSC loop from TM - GA - ML and then back down and will need to leave the car in TM. Which parking lots allow overnight parking and have bear boxes - is Lembert Dome an option?

Lembert Dome is always a good option because when that fills up you can use the Stables road all the way to the gate where the PCT continues to GA. Note: Only downside is your car will get coated with road dust.

Dog Lake parking is also an option. Between TM HSC and Lembert Dome (closer to TM HSC). I think some of the bear boxes are actually in the shade for most of the day also... And less dust than at Lembert smiling smiley

Thats parking for day-use people.

IIRC the picnic area is day-use only; parking along the road is not.

To summarize, here are good places in Tuolomne to park your car while you are out on the trail for a few days:
* Along the road between Lembert Dome day use parking and the stables,
* Dog Lake TH parking lot which is located about half way between the Wilderness Center and Tuolomne Lodge,
* The Wilderness Center parking lot,
* May Lake TH parking lot, if you want to have your car at the end point.
All these places are intended for backpackers and have bear boxes to store any extra food you might have brought.
Have fun on your trip and come back here after and tells us all about it!

Just be aware that some of those places may be 100% full up (e.g. the road to the stables).
