As of 8:00 PM Tuesday, the Carsten Fire was 40% contained. Full containment is expected by Monday, June 24. The fire has burned approximately 1,621 acres and dozers and handlines did an excellent job yesterday. There were 2,237 firefighters on scene yesterday, with the personnel being reduced to 1,223 today. There will be 7 dozers, 53 engines, 43 crews, 11 water tenders, and 8 helicopters working today.
One thousand residents have been allowed to re-enter the area. Evacuations are still in place for Jerseydale, Clarks Valley, and Triangle Road areas.
