...Thunderstorm outlook...

Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are possible over the
Southern sierra nevada crest each day through monday. It is
Possible early next week there will be an increase in thunderstorm
Activity...As the early stages of the summer monsoon bring an
Increase in moisture. This moisture could arrive as early as
Monday afternoon...But more probable tuesday through
Thursday...The 4th of july.

If you have plans to be in the southern sierra over the weekend
Or into next week...Be prepared for an afternoon or evening
Thunderstorm in the higher elevations. Campers...Hikers...And
Boaters should keep an eye on the sky. If threatening weather
Approaches...Seek safe shelter or harbor.

Thunderstorms can produce dangerous cloud to ground
Lightning...Strong gusty winds...Brief heavy rainfall and hail.
Remember...Lightning and strong winds can occur miles away from
The parent thunderstorm.

I will be in the valley from the 4th of July onwards. Is that area likely to be affected?

Wouldn't mind trying some lighting photography, as we so rarely get big storms here in the UK anymore.

Right now they are saying the thunderstorms are Monday and Tuesday...but that's far enough away for things to change in a day or two.

Be safe up there

I was watching the towering cumulous stack up on the north end (Donner summit) all day today -- some of the largest summer formations I have seen so far this season.

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.
