SONORA -- Tragedy struck a Yosemite-area summer camp attended by Bay Area kids Wednesday when a tree fell on a dining area, injuring several people but none of the children, authorities said. Cal Fire said it received reports of 20 people injured at Camp Tawonga. Tuolumne County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jim Oliver said four adults were injured and one is unaccounted for, adding that the tree took down power lines but did not fall on a building. No children were injured.

I spent a summer as a counselor in that camp, about forty years ago. I stood underneath that massive oak tree.

Sad story.
